Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been walking together for many years, or rather they were until the Portuguese decided to take a different path by accepting an offer from Saudi Arabia.
Now history repeats itself with the offer received by the Argentine, but optimism does not preside over the negotiations.
The reality is that money may not be everything in this situation. If other players have succumbed to the temptation, Leo Messi seems for the moment to be waiting for other options before making up his mind. Barcelona are hoping for a miracle and PSG are hoping that he will stay.
It seems to matter little that the amount of the offer is higher. There is no final decision, but the sentiment in Saudi Arabia is not the same over Messi as it was for Cristiano.
Ambassador and image of Saudi Arabia
As MARCA has learned, the Saudi government has agreed to raise the bar on the offer made at the time to Cristiano Ronaldo. The offer goes up to 350 million euros for each of the two seasons that were put on the table to put the finishing touch to his time as a footballer, which would then be extended until 2030 as ambassador and image of Saudi Arabia.

It is still early days, but the teams interested in the Argentine, with Al Hilal in first place and Al-Ittihad second, are starting to think about other players, who may not be at Messi’s level, but are more accessible. Re-establishing the CR7 vs Messi duel looks like it will have to wait.
Having realised that money may not be the only reason for Messi’s arrival, it seems that they are starting to have more targets in their sights. In fact, they claim that Sergio Ramos could be the first big signing of next season, for Al-Nassr, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
