Luka Modric is a doubt for Real Madrid‘s key games against Man City in the Champions League and Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final after picking up a thigh injury.
The club confirmed the news on Friday in a short statement that said the knock would be ‘monitored.’
Losing the 37-year-old will be a big blow for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side, as he remains a key player at the Bernabeu.
He has played 44 games this season, scoring six goals, and boasts valuable experience in the latter stages of big tournaments after five Champions League wins with Real and two impressive World Cup campaigns with Croatia.
According to reports in the Athletic, the midfielder is expected be be out for around ‘two weeks’.

He will almost certainly miss Real’s La Liga games against Almeria and Real Sociedad on Saturday and Tuesday, and may struggle to return in time for the Copa del Rey final on May 6.
Despite an illustrious career, Modric has only won the Copa del Rey once in his time in Madrid.
More worryingly for the Spanish giants, though, their star midfielder may miss their Champions League semi final against Man City on May 9 and May 17.
Real reached the last four after beating Chelsea convincingly across two legs, and come into the tie as defending champions with a record 14 wins in the tournament to City’s none.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been a different proposition this season though, with Erling Haaland scoring 12 goals in just eight UCL appearances this season.
The two games against Real may be the most important remaining for City as they hunt a famous treble.
It is a clash that many feel may decide who wins the final after the other semi is played out between AC Milan and Inter Milan, but being without their most experienced midfielder general will be a blow for Real.
In better news for Ancelotti’s side, Thibaut Courtois is expected to be available for their next game after missing their 4-2 loss to Girona through illness, while Ferland Mendy and David Alaba have also returned to training.
