The debate over the greatest player in NBA history is constant and endless. But according to Draymond Green, there shouldn’t even be one.
The Warriors forward has gone on record saying his teammate Stephen Curry is the greatest of all time.
“We all argue like, ‘Oh, is Jordan the GOAT? Does LeBron dethrone him?'” Green told ESPN. “Whoever your guy is, who you think is the GOAT. Everyone debates it. There’s no debate. [Steph] is the greatest.”
Green’s comments came after Curry dropped 31 points to help lead his team to a crucial win in Game 5. It was the Warriors’ third straight win, and it gave them a 3-2 series lead over the Kings as they continued their battle back from losses in Games 1 and 2.
According to Green, Curry’s seemingly limitless confidence is what sets him apart from the rest.
“It’s way different,” he said. “That confidence runs different. I think we all here in this world know, there’s no debate. He’s the greatest — and that’s a special thing.”
It seems Green’s opinion on the GOAT debate has changed in recent months. In a December interview, he listed Curry as his fourth-best player of all time behind LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
Curry is the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers, overtaking Ray Allen in December 2021. He has won four championships to date in his 14-year professional career and earned All-Star honors on nine occasions. He sits 38th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
