Arsenal to ‘do everything’ to sign €80m Chelsea target who ‘wants’ transfer to Premier League

According to reports, Arsenal are willing to ‘do everything’ to sign Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez, who is also being targeted by Chelsea.

Martinez is a player who is consistently linked with a switch to the Premier League but a deal has not yet come to fruition.

The attacker struggled to make an impact for Argentina at the World Cup but he has been in stunning form for Inter Milan this season.

The 25-year-old has grabbed 25 goals and ten goals in 52 outings across all competitions. He got on the scoresheet against AC Milan earlier this week as Inter booked their place in the Champions League final.

It is well-known that Inter Milan are struggling financially and with Martinez under contract until 2026, he is one of their sellable assets.

Arsenal are expected to strengthen this summer after they mounted an unexpected challenge for the Premier League title this season. Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo are among their main targets but they may also look to bolster their squad in attacking areas.

InterLive (via Sport Witness) claim there could be a ‘blitz’ from Arsenal in an attempt to sign Martinez.

The Gunners ‘could do everything’ to recruit the World Cup winner and Inter Milan would ‘be in disarray if the Premier League giants submit an ‘offer of at least €80m’. It is suggested that ‘no player would be considered non-transferable’ at this price.

A separate report from Football Insider claims ‘Martinez wants a move to the Premier League’. They add.

‘A well-placed source has told this site that the 25-year-old is willing to move to England “if the right opportunity presents itself”.

‘It is believed the red-hot Inter striker, who scored in Tuesday’s (16 May) Champions League semi-final against AC Milan, would cost in the region of £70million.’

They later point out that Chelsea-bound Mauricio Pochettino is ‘targeting a move’ for Martinez as he is a ‘more affordable option’ than Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane.

‘Football Insider revealed on Monday (15 May) that incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is targetting a move for Martinez in an attempt to fix the club’s goalscoring problems.

‘Sources with knowledge of the situation have revealed that the Blues will now turn attention to Martinez, who is seen as a more affordable and attainable option than Napoli’s Victor Osimhen or Tottenham’s Harry Kane.’

It has also been reported that Pochettino is keen for Chelsea to keep Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher this summer. They are being linked with Liverpool and Newcastle respectively.
