This lineup included four of the most famous faces in the game during that magical decade. Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal and Iverson himself made this decade a great one for basketball.
McGrady was a big star at the moment, but his impact on the league was often overlooked. As for the others, they had big careers too, finding their spot in the competition and maximizing their chances in the league.
Kobe won four championships during this time, even beating Allen Iverson’s Philadelphia 76ers on the way to the second of three straight titles. McGrady was one of those players who had the talent but were never surrounded by the right cast to help him win the title.
Duncan won three of his five championships during this time, starring in big moments against Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. The Big Diesel won all his four championships during the 2000s, getting three with the Los Angeles Lakers and one with the Miami Heat.
As for AI, he became an MVP the same year he took his Philadelphia 76ers to the Finals, adding the biggest individual award he has on his resume. Iverson did everything to win that year, but the Lakers were too much for him and co. He was a very influential player in the league, especially in the first half of the 2000s, and it’s easy to see why he’s included in this lineup.
You can pick or remove any of these, but it’s hard to see a 2000s All-Time Decade lineup that doesn’t include Kobe, Duncan and Shaq.
