LIV Golf have announced the details for the league’s Q-School event this December, with Greg Norman and co making one key change to the qualification process
LIV Golf have confirmed that only one spot on the 2025 roster will be on offer to those competing at LIV Promotions this December.
Last year’s qualifying event saw the top three finishers qualify to compete on the breakaway circuit, with Kalle Samooja, Jinichiro Kozuma and Kieran Vincent all prevailing. This time around though, hopefuls have seen their chances limited, with the only promotional spot going to winner.
Another change sees the Promotions event played at a different venue, with the breakaway league hosting at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia, having based it out of Abu Dhabi Golf Club last time around.
The format however will remain the same, with qualifying tournament over 72-holes across three days between December 12-14, with the final two rounds taking place on the Sunday. Following the announcement Greg Norman had his say on the event, a week after it was reported that he is set to be replaced as LIV CEO.
“Those who have competed in the LIV Golf League consistently share similar feedback: the energy, camaraderie, and global competition have created a once-in-a-lifetime experience for players to pursue their dreams at the highest level,” Norman said in a statement.
“LIV Golf Promotions delivers another pathway for up-and-coming players and top competitors across the globe to experience a life-changing season with LIV, and we’re eager to see who steps up this year in Riyadh.” Players eligible have been split into categories.

Category A which focuses heavily on the top amateurs in the world will come into the event at the first round stage, with eligibility including members of the 2023 Walker Cup and 2024 Palmer Cup Teams, as well as winners and the runner-ups of the biggest amateur events in the world.
Also included are the top-five available players from the Japan Golf Tour, KPGA Korean Tour, Sunshine Tour, PGA Tour of Australasia, with the top three exempt until round two. Category B sees players come in a round later on the second day, with the event opening its door to winners from both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
There is also invites for the top-30 available players from the Order of Merit rankings from both the DP World Tour and Korn Ferry Tour. Elsewhere players who have also played in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup between 2019 and 2024 have the opportunity to take up a spot, as do all major champions from that time.
Those who have been either relegated from the LIV setup in 2024 or without contract ahead of the 2025 campaign will also get the opportunity to enter the qualifier at the second round stage. A $1.5m purse will be on offer, with £154,000 ($200,000) handed out to the winner.
