BLINKs are ready to support BLACKPINK’s new hoobaes!
On December 30, YG Entertainment announced they would be debuting a new seven-member girl group, their first since BLACKPINK‘s debut in 2016.
The first teaser was a single image with the seven members’ silhouettes and text labeling the group as YG Entertainment’s “next movement.”
As promised, more information about the group was released at the start of the New Year, with a teaser video giving fans their first look at the new rookie group.
Previously, netizens caught quick glimpses of the members coming and going from the YG Entertainment building but could only theorize that they would be members of the new girl group YG had been hinting about.

For their debut teaser video, YG Entertainment recruited their signed artists to speak about their talented new labelmates, BABYMONSTER.
WINNER‘s Hoony and Yoon, AKMU‘s Suhyun and Lee Chanhyuk, and BLACKPINK‘s Lisa and Jennie praised their new hoobaes, who have been training for the last four years.
In the video, BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Lisa are shown mentoring the group, immediately exciting fans that the new group was in the capable hands of one of K-Pop’s top girl groups.

With their involvement, a previous interview with BLACKPINK resurfaced, and netizens now wonder if a trainee Lisa spoke about is now a member of BABYMONSTER.
Lisa warmed fans’ hearts when she spoke about a bond she formed with a Thai trainee in her interview with Rolling Stone.
There is a Thai trainee who reminds me of when I was young. I’m trying to take care of her.
— Lisa
Lisa shared that she spent time with the younger trainee, who was 17 at the time, and revealed that their connection wasn’t centered around giving advice; instead, they bonded through eating meals together and going shopping.
Fans are hoping the Thai trainee Lisa spoke of is debuting in the upcoming girl group for a touching full circle moment.
