Anne Hathaway is probably kicking herself big time over this.
Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has told how Les Mis actress Anne was originally signed on to play Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar-winning role in Silver Linings Playbook.
Speaking during a very candid interview on Howard Stern’s radio show the studio boss let slip a bit of information that Anne may not be thrilled with everyone knowing.
After talking about how Weinstein doesn’t find casting actors frustrating because he can always find someone new – he gave Anne as an example.
“Silver Linings Playbook was originally going to be with Anne Hathaway and Mark Wahlberg,” he revealed. “And then Anne wasn’t doing it. And she’s marvelous, and wonderful and she was my choice, I love her.”
Stern – being Stern – didn’t let the praise stop him from asking a quick follow up: “You made a move to get Anne Hathaway and you couldn’t get her?” the shock jock asked.

“No we got her,” Weinstein confirmed. “We had Annie and then we had Mark . . . then whatever happened, happened.”
Whatever being the highly overused excuse of artistic differences.
“Well, David and Anne had some creative differences,” Weinstein said. “They didn’t see eye-to-eye.”
After Stern said that Anne would be “kicking herself in the head” – which she totally probably was for a while – Weinstein made an excellent point.
“She went on to win the Academy Award for Les Miserables – maybe we’re kicking ourselves in the head.”
But it all worked out for the best because Anne won an Oscar and Jennifer won an Oscar. Oscars for everyone!
“I said, ‘How the hell are we gonna replace Annie?’ And then this amazing creature [Lawrence] walked in who is a brilliant actress, and so much fun, and she won an Oscar.”
