A video of a python swallowing a cat whole and spitting it halfway is circulating online. Cynthia Ong, a member of Sayang Our Singapore’s Community Cats Facebook page, uploaded a video of the incident at Boon Lay Drive on Thursday (June 16).
“If this is your community cat or someone’s cat left to roam freely in the estate, I am so sorry,” said Ms Ong. She attached a video of a python trying to swallow a dead cat whole. Ms Ong noted in a comment that the snake killed the cat.
However, the snake failed to consume its meal and ended up regurgitating the carcass.
“When my mom saw, the cat is already in the snake’s stomach, as you can see from the video,” said Ms Ong in a comment. When we approached the snake, it spat the cat carcass out and went off, she added.
In another video, the python was seen exiting the scene by slithering into the sewage canal.

“I have called AVS (Animal & Veterinary Service) and informed them about the incident. I believe they will pick up the cat carcass,” said Ms Ong.
She posted an update on the same day that the carcass had been collected.
In a previous case of a python targeting a community cat, the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES) said that the curious nature of felines makes them easy targets for such prey.
“We feel sorry for the loss of the beloved cat. It is unfortunate, but these are some of the risks community animals will face in our urban landscape. They are all animals trying to survive,” said ACRES in a Mothership report.
