The shift at the helm of DCEU has brought along several changes to the movie universe. Henry Cavill’s bid to reprise his role as Superman would not be happening again.
The fans would also miss out on a second installment to the 2022 venture Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson. One of the universe’s stars has retained his place among these major casualties. However, he might not realize his long-standing dream now.
James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are definitely trying to start afresh. Their vision does not include the aforementioned high-profile actors in any of the future projects.
It does feature Shazam actor Zachary Levi though, as he is set to return as the titular character soon. He might continue as the character but his one aspiration featuring Johnson would be left unfulfilled.
Levy had previously expressed his desire to punch The Rock in the face. He posted on his social media account, “I would get to punch The Rock in the face, people“! The clash between the characters the actors played was inevitable back then.
But the recent shake-up means Levy will not get what he wants. Add to that the insane worth of $800 million and Johnson will surely have the last laugh.
Zachary Levi takes a shot at Dwayne Johnson
The Shazam actor recently took a dig at Johnson’s appearance through an Instagram story. He posted, “STUDY FINDS THAT DRINKING ENERGY DRINKS CAUSES HAIRFALL IN MEN”. The People’s Champ promotes ZOA energy drinks and his small image in the story meant that the shot was at him. Johnson would be seen in Amazon Prime’s The Red One alongside Chris Evans later this year.
2023 also might beckon a return to the squared circle for The Great One. Speculations are rife that he might feature in WrestleMania 39 scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
Apart from Johnson, wrestling legends such as Stone Cold and John Cena are also expected to compete at the mega showpiece. One will have to wait and watch on the wrestling front for the wrestler-turned-actor.
Return to the ring this year?
A potential clash with nephew Roman Reigns is something that excites a lot of audiences. It’s definitely up to the promotion to make it happen.
Coming back to Zachary Levi, his wish to punch Dwayne Johnson in the face most probably won’t be happening. And his recent sly at The People’s Champ certainly rubs salt in the wounds.
Johnson must have definitely felt the heat after failing to conjure up a sequel for his dream project. But his fans will be hoping that he continues to do what he does best, and that is to entertain.
